1. What happens to my data?

Nothing moves until you've seen it and signed it off. We build a sandbox, a live copy of your practice inside Dentally, so you can review patient by patient, side by side. Only when you're confident do we go live. Your existing system stays untouched until then.

2. Will my team cope?

Training is built around what each person actually does, not a one size fits all session. You choose remote or on-site. The sandbox stays live so your team practises on your own data before go live, and stays open after, so you can train new starters without touching the live system.

3. Will I lose clinical time?

Go live day isn't a leap into the unknown. Your data is migrated, your team is trained, your criteria for switching are agreed in advance. Some practices close for a day to bring everyone together. Others go live with barely a ripple. We fit around your diary.

4. What about NHS and private?

Your workflows are tested before we switch anything on, not after. Mixed practices move without losing continuity on either side.

5. Will it be worth it?

What changes is what goes away: the server and its maintenance, per licence fees, the IT call outs. We run the numbers with you against your figures. If it doesn't stack up for your practice, we tell you.

6. Who actually owns this?

A named onboarding manager runs your move from the first call to go live. A live portal shows every key date and task, so you always know what's next. Then a proper handover to the team who look after you from there.

Moving to Dentally FAQs

Here’s a list of the most common questions we get asked about moving to Dentally.

What is a sandbox?

A sandbox is a ring-fenced copy of Dentally containing your data. Anything you do in it stays in it, it has no effect on your current system or on what goes live later.

How long do we get a sandbox for when moving to Dentally?

There is no time limit on your sandbox when you move to Dentally. Once it is set up, you have it right through to go-live.

What if we spot a problem in the data after the review with Dentally?

If you spot a problem after your Dentally data review, tell your conversion technician. Keep using the sandbox until the live conversion, and flag anything that looks wrong, including in the weeks after you go live.

What happens to our X-rays when moving to Dentally?

If you bridge to separate imaging software today, we bridge the same way. Or you move to Dentally Vision and capture directly into the patient chart. Most devices integrate natively.

Do we have to close the practice when moving to Dentally?

No, you don't have to close the practice to switch to Dentally. Some choose to, to get everyone together. Others go live with minimal disruption using remote training and the Academy.
