What they were looking for
Earlier in her career, Dr. Jehan used ClearDent and Dentrix. Opening a brand-new clinic gave her the opportunity to do things differently.
"When we were opening our own clinic, we wanted a software that could incorporate all of the other add-ons that I was finding were needed. Something that was current, something that I could easily access from anywhere. Cloud-based is where we were focused on."
The flexibility to work remotely was a key requirement. "I can get things done if I have to finish notes, sign something off, add something quick at home, check a patient chart, send off a proposal," Dr. Jehan explains. "Things like that become way easier when we can check from home."
For Aly, longevity was the central consideration. "As a new clinic, we are looking for longevity. So we're looking for a dental practice software that can grow with us, change with us, and adapt with us over the next 20 to 30 years."
Why they chose Dentally
As Aly explains: "We chose Dentally because it's backed by Henry Schein One. Most people that work in the dental industry know Dentrix and know Henry Schein One's reputation. So that gave us a lot of comfort when considering a cloud-based software — if they've been so successful with their existing software, we probably will have a really good experience going to their cloud-based software as well."
Dentally's forward-thinking approach also aligned with the clinic's values. "Dentally is a great option for us because it is forward thinking. It's user friendly, it's patient friendly, it's modern, and it's always changing. So, it just resonated with what our practice values were."
The impact: streamlined workflows from day one
Once the team got up and running, the benefits became clear quickly. "I love Dentally because it incorporates many other add-ons to the software," says Dr. Jehan. "It allows us to be streamlined with our patient communication, with our intra-office communication — less things are falling through the cracks. Our workflows are a lot smoother, and the system overall is just intuitive and is always adapting to things that are brought up."
Dentally’s Claims Manager: a favourite across the whole team
For the admin team, the standout feature has been the Claims Manager. "The Claims Manager is absolutely a time-saving feature,” says Aly. "The ability to see all of your claims in one spot in chronological order, to be able to input payments for multiple patients all in one spot — it really streamlines the process."
The result? "Our [outstanding] claims are minimal. And that's a real accomplishment for us."
Dentally AI Voice Notes: Saving 1-2 hours per day
Perhaps the most transformative feature for Dr. Jehan has been Dentally's AI-powered voice notes. "One of my favourite features is the voice notes. I wear a little microphone just on my shirt, and while I'm doing an examination or a consultation with a patient, it will listen to the entire conversation and generate a summary of the whole thing."
Voice notes is just one of the AI technologies that Henry Schein One Canada has brought to practice management software for 2026. "Doctor Jehan was very nervous about it," Aly recalls with a smile. "She was hesitant at first, reluctantly tried it, and now absolutely loves it."
The time savings have been significant. "Overall, between me and our staff, we save approximately 1 to 2 hours per day with the voice notes," says Dr. Jehan. "It's much more detailed and much more organised than anything we could provide ourselves."
The value of changing software
For any practice considering a switch, Dr. Jehan is candid about the learning curve — and clear about why it's worth it.
"Change is scary. Especially when all of the staff are used to doing something a certain way — it's easy to get pushback because nobody likes to be outside their comfort zone. But there's value in realising that if you're not changing, you're not growing."
Her advice to other dentists considering the move? "The software is easy to use, easy to transition to. The staff may have a little bit of pushback, but all have gotten used to it and love it now. It just seems to be paving the way forward for cloud-based and adaptable software that is looking to meet the needs of dentists."
For Aly, the relationship with Dentally has felt like more than just a software subscription. "Dentally has grown with us. We've learned together as a team how to use it. It's been great from a support standpoint, great from a patient communication standpoint, great from a business management standpoint. It's one of those partners that's really held our hand in this new clinic phase — and it's something we haven't had to worry about, which has been really comforting."
